BIG Shoes For BIG Feet

Bigger. Wider. Better. ShoesXLYesterday we talked about ingrown toenails, and in general foot care if you are overweight and diabetic.  Foot care is very important, and is routinely emphasized by medical professionals especially when you are diabetic.

In most cases if you have BIG feet it might be difficult finding the right shoes – most stores don’t carry large sizes (11 or 12 or bigger) or wide widths and generally those that do charge a premium on these and typically may not have more than a few styles in the store.  This means you typically have the worst styles of shoes to pick from.

I tend to go through runners every 6 months to year and for the longest time spent as little as I could since I was having to replace them so often.  However several years ago, I started buying more expensive brand name runners and although I spent considerably more (compare a $20.00 runner to one that is $80.00 and you will see the difference).  You know what?  My runners lasted longer and they felt better!  I felt as if I’m walking on air when compared to cheap runners from the big box retailers.  I’ll never go back to cheap runners, and insist that my wife and son buy good runners that will last longer and take better care of their feet.

I can highly recommend a few stores – you should always check your speciality stores as they can run some great sales where you can get excellent foot wear and good prices.  On my recent trip to LA I purchased 3 pairs of shoes for $150.00 from a outlet store — GOOD DEAL since I usually buy one pair for around $80.00 (on average).  They tend to concentrate only on sports type footwear – such as joggers/hikers/walkers/running shoes etc.,  Though they may have a good selection I find the prices to be on the high side – unless I can get items on sale but by then the products are out of style and usually only the odd sizes are left like 14 extra wide in orange and yellow.  Yuck.

Another good place to purchase is from Casual Male – they sell dress shoes and other styles in their stores but you can also head over to their specialty store called Shoes XL where you will get a greater range of products and styles — and you won’t have to pick the “left overs”.

Shoes XL sells very popular brands such as Kenneth Cole,Florsheim, Rockport and Rockport Signature and other high end brands such as Bruno Magliand Allen EdmondsIf runners are more your style, they sell all the popular brands like Adidas, New Balance, Reebok and even Vans.

You can also find men’s Converse sneakers in extended sizes at ShoesXL!
