Yummy Junky Food

Food.  Can’t get enough of it at times, right?  Don’t you just feel like giving up sometimes?  Imagine the delicious tastes of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, pizza, chips, soda pop.  All with unfettered access.

I hope you didn’t answer YES to any of the above and that YOUR WILL POWER was strong enough to resist the temptation.  If a few simple words were enough to break you…

So this post isn’t about food, it’s about what we HATE to do.  Exercise.  I hate it.  Can’t stand doing it.  Never liked it, and probably never well.  Through junior high, and high school I would do just about anything to get away from physical education.

I wrote notes to the teacher, and signed them myself.

I’d make up excuses.  You name it, I’d do it.

But you know what, we need to exercise.  You and I.  Not only will it help us maintain a healthy weight, but it will help us loose weight and get back that tight, strong body that we long for.

But what kind of workouts?  Does it need to be so regimented that exercise becomes a chore?  That it becomes something we hate to do, something that we detest to do?

No.  It doesn’t.

Simple things can help you get moving.  Nobody is asking you to run a marathon, but maybe that is your goal at some point in your life.

The smallest things will help you get in shape, and once you feel that rush of adrenelin, the burning in your arms and legs, the feel of sweat trickling down your back - YOU will want more!  Sure, if you have not exercised in a long time you will feel pain — but you’ll love it.

That small amount of exercise will lift your spirit.  It will boost your mood.  You will feel happy.  You will want to go out and run a marathon.

And the next day, when you decide one day was enough.  Something will nag at you, and that nagging feeling will be that you did not exercise.  It will tug at you.  And you will go.

Exercise can be anything you want.

For example, I am teaching my son how to play soccer.  So I’m using soccer as a workout for weight loss.  I’m teaching him the basics of golf, just putting - but it’s getting the both of us outside and enjoying the sunshine and good weather.  He enjoys swimming - I don’t swim, but I take him to the pool.  He jumps around, as do I.  When he goes out for a bicycle ride, I join him and follow behind.  It’s tough keeping up with him, and we go around the block at least 3 or 4 times.

You do not need specific workouts for weight loss.  You need to get off of your butt and do SOMETHING.

Here is to your health,

Mohamed
